Judicial Endorsements

OCDP Endorses Judicial Candidates

The Oakland County Democratic Party has announced its endorsements for judicial races in the county.

The four candidates receiving endorsements are Mary Ellen Brennan and Rebecca Walsh for Judge of Circuit Court, 6th Circuit; Mark Frankel for Judge of Probate Court; and Bill Richards for Judge of 46th District Court.

Mary Ellen Brennan has been a practicing attorney for 18 years. She has successfully prosecuted thousands of criminal cases since 1990. She served for over six years at the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office. She also served as a city prosecutor for Royal Oak for 4 years. Brennan has extensive trial experience—both jury and bench—gained through over 10 years as a prosecutor.  She also served as Assistant Corporation Counsel at Meadowbrook Insurance Group in Southfield. Currently, she assists the judges of the 44th District Court as the Judicial Attorney/Case Coordinator. Click here for campaign web site.

Mark Frankel was elected to the State Bar Representative Assembly. Frankel is also a member of the Probate Alliance, has acted as a probate receiver and probate facilitator, and as an Oakland County facilitator and discovery master. Frankel previously worked as a prosecuting attorney in several municipalities. He is a member of the Inns of the Court and participates in county and federal pro bono programs. Judge Bill Richards is the newest Judge of the 46th District Court (Southfield). Appointed to the bench by Governor Jennifer Granholm to succeed Judge Stephen Cooper, Judge Richards is a longtime local resident with a distinguished career in government. As Senior Policy Adviser for the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, he was responsible for environmental policy and legal issues for the past four years. Earlier, he was a staff attorney in the Federal Defender Office and law clerk to Judge Cornelia Kennedy.

REMINDER:  Judges are on the non-partisan portion of your ballot.  Remember to vote for the judicial candidates.
