The South Lyon Area comes
alive with the Fall Season and the SOUTH LYON AREA PUMPKINFEST during the
weekend of October 3 - 5.There is a huge regional turnout for this event. The parade is a highlight of the
weekend’s events.JOIN the Oakland
County Democratic Party and our fellow Dems from the South
Lyon area for a great rallying time for our 2008 Democratic
Candidates!
Who:Everyone! CANDIDATES ARE ENCOURAGED TO COME MARCH and meet the
thousands of people who come out for this annual event.For this parade, you may pass out Lit from
the parade route.
When:Arrive in South Lyon
around 9 AM.Be at the staging area no
later than 9:30 AM. The Parade steps off at 10 AM and lasts 1 ½ hours.
Where:Staging
is at BartlettElementary School, 350 School Street.WE are unit #18 and will be on Warren Street, which
is just north of Whipple and about a block West Whipple’s intersection with N.Lafayette/Pontiac
Trail. The
parade travels from the school down Warren, then Whipple, turns south on
Pontiac Trail and finishes at Nine Mile. The route is 1.5 miles.
Parking:There are several public lots nearby, but there will be no parking at the drop site. If you park
at the end of the route, it’s the Fellowship Evangelical Presbyterian Church,
22200 Pontiac Trail, just south of Nine Mile.
Special:Handing out LIT and CANDY into people’s hands
is permitted.DO NOT TOSS anything.
All marchers are
asked to bring a non-perishable food donation as a Good Will Entry Fee.The food will be used for the Active Faith
Community Service in South Lyon.Greeters will take your item when you arrive.
What to wear:Long pants or capris.Khakis
preferred, no jeans, please.Wear your
Candidate shirt or we’ll provide you with a shirt to wear.Sunscreen, hat, or raingear if needed; it’s a
rain or shine event.

OCDP On The Road is a team of volunteers, all members of the Oakland County Democratic Party, who join together with Democratic campaigns and local Democratic Clubs to support local, county-wide, State, US Senate, US House, and Presidential campaigns. Individuals choose their times, locations and assignments. The 2008 events range from holiday parades and fireworks events to town and city spring, summer and fall festivals of various types. It includes large venues like Woodward Dream Cruise and Arts, Beats and Eats. Most events are on weekends. It’s a great way for YOU to make a difference in this exciting election year!
